Abstract

In this article – the author presented the basic content on behavioural addictions and approximated the characteristics of internet and computer game addiction: of their essence, manifestation, diagnostic criteria and the general basis of electronic media addiction therapy. The theoretical resources of the article are illustrated through a case study of a young man which shows the development of his addiction to the internet and computer games – and manifestations of his symptoms. The case study made it possible to determine the causes and mechanisms of, as well as the consequences resulting from his addiction.
